Abstract

The 3-substituted 2-aminothiazolium bromides 1-3 undergo cyclocondensation with phosphorus trichloride in acetonitrile in the presence of triethylamine to give the 3-substituted 5,6-dihydrothiazolo[3,2-d] [1,4,2]diazaphospholes 4, thiazolo[3,2-d] [1,4,2] diazaphosphole 5 and its benzo derivatives 6. The products are characterized by 31P, 1H and 13C NMR spectra. Dimethyl sulfate alkylates 5 at N-7.
