Abstract Almost perfect enantio-differentiating hydrogenation was achieved by asymmetrically modified heterogeneous catalyst. The hydrogenation of methyl 3-cyclopropyl-3-oxopropanoate over tartaric acid modified Raney nickel gave methyl 3-cyclopropyl-3-hydroxypropanoate in more than 98% of optical purity.
