Abstract

Reaction of (n-Bu4N)2[B6H6] with [CdCl2(PPh3)2] in CH2Cl2 yields colorless (n-Bu4N)2[Cd(η3-B6H6)2]. The synthesis, X-ray structural characterization, and NMR properties of the complex are described, containing two hexahydro-closo-hexaborate anions as ligands coordinated in a trihapto mode to one cadmium atom by B3 facets of the B6 clusters.
