In article number 1900196, Keigo Kubota, Qiang Xu and co-workers report the development of a zinc anode with remarkably improved reversibility and stability, through the utilization of a room-temperature molten hydrate electrolyte. The high zinc concentration and strong hydration effect in the electrolyte is shown to facilitate dendrite-free zinc plating and stripping as well as effectively suppress self-corrosion of zinc, granting zinc–air batteries a long-term cyclability.
