A novel and convenient method for the synthesis of substituted 2-alkoxy-1-arylmethylnaphthalenes from 1-arylidene-2-tetralones is described. This reaction follows a facile aromatization step catalyzed under anhydrous acidic conditions in the presence of alcohols.
