Two new tetronic acid derivatives, 5-hydroxyvertinolide (1) and bislongiquinolide (2), have been isolated from the fungus Trichoderma longibrachiatum Rifai aggr., which is antagonistic to the fungus Mycena citricolor , the causative agent of the American leaf spot disease of coffee. The structures were determined by a combination of spectroscopic techniques, including 1H and 13C n.m.r., i.r., u.v., c.d., and mass spectrometry.
