Zirconium-mediated synthetic methods of a series of heterocyclic compounds were reviewed.Discussion was focused on the reactions including the other metals, such as Cu, Ni, Li, and so on.These enable us to synthesize a series of heterocycles having N, O, Si, S, Sn, etc. in the ring skeletons.The key point of the reaction is transmetalation from Zr to the other employed metals, which have a crucial role for reactivity and selectivity of the reaction.Cp 2 ZrCl 2 reductant X Cp 2 Zr X = C, N, O, etc. C C C X "Cp 2 Zr(II)" Scheme 1
