Gel polymer electrolytes (GPEs), characterized by in situ gelation, are presented. Different from ex situ gelated GPEs, in situ GPEs are formed omnipresent within electrochemical cells, covering the pores of electrode material particles and even the pores of separators. In article number 1804909, Young-Soo Kim, Hyun-Kon Song, and co-workers describe the merits of in situ GPEs in electrochemical energy systems such as lithium-ion and lithium–sulfur batteries.
