Iterative clipping and filtering (ICF) is widely employed in the orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) systems to reduce the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). However, the conventional ICF-based methods usually involve numerous transformations between the frequency domain and the time domain and run into numbers of iteration. This letter proposes a clipping-noise compression method, in which the transmitted OFDM signal is modified in the time domain by clipping and noise compression. The computational complexity is greatly reduced owing to the fact that only one fast Fourier transform is needed in the approach. Furthermore, the proposed method exhibits better PAPR reduction and bit error rate (BER) performance in the simulations compared with the conventional ICF-based methods.
