The transvaginal approach is less invasive and achieves comparable success rates as compared to other methods of vesico-vaginal fistula repair. This surgery with Foley catheter has a high success rate with reduced morbidity. We postulate that vaginal approach should be preferred over abdominal approach for repair of all vaginally accessible vesico vaginal fistulae, both of obstetrical and gynaecological origin.
