Abstract

Ninety-six patients who had cervical epidural steroid injections for chronic neck pain were contacted and interviewed. Pain relief that was judged to be good or better was obtained in 41% of the patients. Thirty-eight percent had pain relief of 1 month duration or longer. There were no major complications. Cervical epidural steroid injection represents a safe, simple, and easily performed therapy for chronic neck pain. Its degree of reliability makes it a reasonable first choice of conservative therapy for this condition.
