In this paper, a novel form stable phase change material (FSPCM) of Palmitic acid (PA)/Carbonized pepper straw (CPS) was prepared by using the facile direct impregnation method. The chemical compatibility of PA/CPS FSPCM was investigated by using the Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy. Differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetry analysis were applied to characterize the latent heat and thermal stability, the results of which show that the compatibility between PA and CPS is good. The phase change temperature and latent heat of PA/CPS FSPCM is 65.7 °C and 95.5 J/g for the melting process and 56.1 °C and 90.2 J/g for the solidification process. Moreover, the FSPCM had excellent thermal reliability even after 100 cycles. All the results indicate that the PA/CPS FSPCM has great potential for use in green building and indoor heat system.
