We propose a ZnO/ZIF-67 core/shell template strategy to synthesize Co/N-doped carbon bifunctional electrocatalysts for Zn-air batteries, and use density functional theory to reveal that the highly efficient electrocatalysts can be rationally designed by using N-doped carbons to encapsulate electrophilic components, like metallic Co clusters.
