In the remote islands, the diesel generator sets are widely used, and their costs of the fuel and transportation are both relatively high. In order to reduce the energy dependence of fossil fuel, the architecture and control strategies of PV/diesel/battery hybrid system applied to the remote island are proposed to ensure the power quality and fuel economy. According to the operation data of the existing generator set, load profile, and climate data, the decoupling active and reactive power control are considered in the paper. HOMER software was used in the modeling proposed microgrid system. The simulation results show that the PV/diesel/battery microgrid system is helpful for reducing the fuel consumption by decreasing and replacing the diesel generation.
