Abstract

Occult lymph node metastasis is not an independent poor prognostic feature in esophageal adenocarcinoma or squamous cell carcinoma. Therefore, the authors do not recommend extensive lymph node sectioning with keratin immunostaining for prognostication of patients with these malignancies.
