Wheel Tread Defects Inspection Based on SVM

Abstract

The wheel, rolling part of the train, is closely related to the safety operation. When the wheel tread is flawed, strong impact vibration will be produced. That not only can cause serious damage of the wheel-rail system, but also reduce passenger comfort. In this paper, a system of collecting wheel tread defect image was designed, that be used in the online running train. The system can identify and locate the wheel tread defects accurately such as wheel tread flat, wheel tread spalling and other defects.
