Abstract

One could state that a "new era" began in the history of aviation when we take into account the highly dynamic growth of technological developments in the area of unmanned aviation experienced in recent years. The cost of using RPAS (Remotely piloted aircraft systems) is incomparable to the cost of using manned aviation. It is anticipated that drones will gradually replace “traditional” manned aviation in the scope of aviation services such as photography, video-recording, search and rescue or monitoring the transmission systems. The global market for drones is expected to reach about 21 billion USD in 2022. Evolution of unmanned aircraft and their integration with manned aircraft system represents one of the major challenges for the future of aviation, and requires the development of regulations governing their use. Work is currently underway to develop a new European regulation but in the meantime UE countries created their own rules. Poland was one of the first European country which introduced such regulations back in 2013. The paper will analyse these regulations.
