Abstract

Summary The scale and location parameters in the normal and some exponential families are eliminated by means of suitable transformations on the original observations and the transformed random variables are then shown to possess certain known distributions with known parameters on the null hypothesis. Exact tests using Kolmogorov-type statistics can then be performed on the transformed variables for testing the null hypothesis.
