Conclusion: After the first 12 weeks both groups obtained improvements in HR and HRV; however, at one year significant improvements in HRV-indices (SDNNindex and RMSSD) were only observed after AIT, suggesting an improvement in HRV in this group by enhancement of vagal tone.
