A Note on the Size of Epidemics and the Number of People Hearing a Rumour

Abstract

Summary Models for the spread of an epidemic and of a rumour are compared; their deterministic forms are shown to be similar. The variance of the number unaffected is found approximately by using exchangeable variables.
