Abstract

By measuring the response of the levitation force to the operating speed of the magnetic levitation device, the dynamic characteristics of the high-T c superconducting (HTS) magnetic levitation device on the permanent magnet (PM) orbit with fluctuating field distribution are studied. The experiment was carried out through a home-designed rotating PM track platform in which the circular-PM-tracks were moved at different speeds against the HTS magnetic levitation device suspended above the track. It is found that the fluctuant field appears as a sawtooth wave, and its frequency is determined by the running speed of the maglev. The fluctuant field causes forced oscillation of the maglev device, and the amplitude is controlled by parameters such as running speed, levitation height, and initial state of suspension.
