Mechanical stress contributes to osteoarthritis development through the activation of transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGF-β1)

Abstract

Mechanical stress-induced overexpression of TGF-β1 from osteoclasts is responsible for chondrocyte apoptosis and cartilage degeneration in OA.
