Genetic Linkage in Soybeans: Linkage Group I<sup>1</sup>

Genetic linkage of three genes in soybeans— y 12 , a seedling chlorophyll deficiency gene, t , a pubescence color gene, and e 1 , a gene conditioning earliness and shortness—was established in Linkage Group I. The combined recombination value for y 12 and e l was 20.2 ± 1.1%, for e 1 and t was 3.9 ± 0.4%, and for y 12 and t was 21.6 — 0.7%. Pubescence color, Tt , and a duplicate locus conditioning cotyledon color, D 2 d 2 , previously reported linked, were shown to be inherited independently. The order of genes in Linkage Group I appears to be y 12 ‐e 1 ‐t .
