Abstract

The real time monitoring transmission and reception of measured information has become an essential part of all communication systems related to human being, which may be provided by wearable antenna technology, working in UWB frequency range. A simple design of an ultra-wide band antenna with improved design and bandwidth is proposed with an additional feature of end fire antenna in the lower frequency range of operation. Wearable antennas can be an integral part of IoT9internet of Things) and BAN (Body Area Network) which requires high data transmission rate with a real time observation and transmission. The proposed antenna is designed on jeans fabric as the substrate which is one of the widely used wearable clothing materials. The antenna design is similar to a stair case structure. The antenna operates in the wide frequency range of 1-6.58 GHz. The average gain achieved for the proposed UWB antenna ranges between2-5 dBi. The different characteristics of the antenna such as reflection coefficient, radiation Pattern (2D and 3D), gain and efficiency are studied and presented. Comparison of previously designed antennas and the proposed antenna has been carried out. The antenna is designed using HFSS software.
