Supported by quality Ocean-bottom node data, we used successive higher frequency data up to imaging frequencies in the FWI workflow. The resulting FWI product has rich details of the subsurface and the appearance of an image. The FWI result has similar wavenumber content with the migrated image from the conventional workflow, but is superior in areas with poor illumination and/or complex geology. Besides the conventional usage as input velocity for migration, it can also be used as a stand-alone product for structural interpretation and well planning. In addition, the FWI product is derived with raw data as input, enabling the workflow execution in parallel to the regular workflow of data pre-processing followed by imaging. With this, we believe it is worthwhile to employ modern seismic data and processing workflow in the exploration setting. The investment is justified with the delivery of the high-quality, fast-track imaging products.
