Object. Improving health infrastructure, improving the quality of medical care provided are fundamental to modern Russia. Currently, there is a high prevalence of dental diseases, which in our country can cause hospitalization or even death of patients. The load of beds of specialized hospitals, the increase in the number of cases of serious complications significantly exacerbate the socio-economic significance of the problem. Goal. Describe the structure of diseases of the maxillofacial region among adults and children of the Sverdlovsk region and Yekaterinburg for the period 2013-2017. Methodology. A retrospective study of maxillofacial region diseases was conducted in patients who received inpatient treatment in 2013-2017 in medical institutions of Yekaterinburg. Results. The analysis of the data showed that inpatient care for patients with maxillofacial pathology is in demand in our region. The most common reason for hospitalization of patients are inflammatory diseases of the maxillo-facial region, especially of odontogenic origin. This situation is observed in both adult and pediatric maxillofacial surgery.Facial trauma in pediatric practice ranked second in frequency of occurrence among the pathologies of the maxillofacial region. In adults, tumors and tumor-like processes make up a significant part of diseases of the maxillofacial region that require inpatient treatment. Despite the progress and improvement of some indicators, today in the structure of maxillofacial surgery of the Sverdlovsk region there are problems, mainly of an organizational nature. There are few specialized departments in the field, the best is to provide assistance in the conditions of independent departments of maxillofacial surgery in close cooperation with related specialists, requires improvement of patient routing, there is no interaction between doctors of various CNC departments and dentists, surgeons, not enough qualified specialists. The solution to these and other questions will allow to raise efficiency of treatment of patients with pathology of the maxillofacial region. Conclusions 1. During the period 2013—2017, there was a steady increase in diseases of the maxillofacial region among the residents of Yekaterinburg and Sverdlovsk region, especially children. 2. The largest part consists of patients with inflammatory diseases of the maxillofacial region, mainly odontogenic etiology.
