Soil Color Detection Using Knn Classifier

Abstract

Soil is the major component of land. Soil colour plays a major role in agriculture. Its colour describes the attributes of the soil such as mineral content, organic matter etc. Munsell soil colour chart is a book used to assess the type of soil that is present within the given area, but it is difficult to classify the colour using this method. Our project aims at developing an efficient algorithm to detect the soil colour using digital image processing. When an image is selected for processing, first the soil portion is separated from the background and then the soil colour is found.
