Overview of the Ways to Design an Electric Bicycle

Abstract

This paper reviews possible approaches to the design of an electric bicycle with an emphasis on three different domains - electrical, mechanical and system level design. It reviews the available solutions to a wide range of issues in each of the above mentioned domains. After grouping the solutions presented and classifying them on a domain basis the paper presents a classification on the ways to design an electric bike, so that a designer can easily obtain the required information in order to start their project.
