Analysis of influence of losses in the core of the inductor on parameters of the buck converter

Abstract

In the paper the influence of the applied model of power losses in the core of the inductor on parameters of the buck converter is analysed. The selected literature dependences describing power losses in the ferromagnetic core are presented. Equations describing values of quantities occurring in these equations for the inductor operating in the considered converter are formulated. Computer analyses illustrating the influence of frequency, converter load resistance and the applied model of losses on the power dissipated in the core of the inductor are performed. The obtained results of calculations are discussed.
