Molecular Epidemiology and the Transformation of HIV Prevention

Abstract

This Viewpoint describes the addition of HIV nucleotide sequence data collected through molecular surveillance to traditional epidemiologic investigation as an effective means to characterize HIV transmission networks, contain outbreaks, and prevent further spread.
