Our results suggest that the interaction between <i>rpsL</i> and <i>gyrA</i> mutations affects the fitness cost in STR-FLQ dual-resistant <i>M. smegmatis</i> and also the predilection of mutation combinations in clinical <i>M. tuberculosis</i> isolates.
