On the non-existence of the Mackey topology for locally quasi-convex groups

Abstract

Abstract We give a self-contained proof that the Graev free abelian group over a convergent sequence has no Mackey topology. This means the supremum of all locally quasi-convex compatible topologies of this group is no longer compatible.
