Abstract

Growing environmental protection consciousness has revived the interest to develop eco-friendly composites fibers from bio-renewable resources due to their unique intrinsic properties and their wide applications. Thus, in the last two decades, extraction and use procedures of natural fibers have kn own an important increase for the reinforcement of composite materials called bio-composites. This paper presents a physical, chemical, morphological and mechanical characterization of Jute yarns and fabrics with a view to their integration in composite lamintes. And yet, obtained mechanical performances of Jute yarns and Fabrics allow a prediction of actual perspectives for substituting glass fibers by natural ones for semi-structural moderately loaded elements applications.
