Solidification of oily sludge

Abstract

Oily sludge solidified technology is an effective method to accelerate the oily sludge, which could make contribute to releasing the financial and environmental burden. In this paper, a novel polymer was synthesized based on Divinylbenzene, styrene, butyl acrylate and persulfate via suspension and solution polymerization for oily sludge solidification. The oily sludge with oil content from 20% to 80% can be processed by this solidifying agent. The chemical oxygen demand and the oil content in lixivium of solidified sludge are separately 90% and 95% lower than that in the oily sludge, even lower than the standard of GB 8978-1996. With the passage of time, the solidified effect remained stable.
