Abstract

This paper presents a design and implantation of a modified topology for multilevel inverter (MLI). The proposed topology can be utilized in both symmetrical and asymmetrical source configuration. The proposed topology composed of cascaded basic module with H-bridge. The proposed concept is compared with conventional and some recent topologies. As a results proposed topology required less number of power electronics switches, which lead to reduction in size and cost of the circuit. Carrier based pulse width modulation control method is developed to achieve switching signals. The performance and operation of proposed topology is verified through simulation study through MATLAB/Simulink and validated experimentally for 11-level and 15-level inverter.
