<i>Escherichia coli</i> and <i>Klebsiella pneumoniae</i> are frequently isolated from gram-negative bacterial bloodstream infection episodes in cirrhosis patients. Acquisition site of infection can influence clinical characteristics and etiological distribution. β-lactamase inhibitor antibiotics may be the first choice for empirical treatments.
