Gut epithelial cell-derived exosomes trigger posttrauma immune dysfunction

Abstract

Gut epithelial cells release immunomodulatory exosomes into the ML after T/HS and resuscitation. Mesenteric lymph exosomes may be critical mediators of posttraumatic immunosuppression causing depletion and dysfunction of DCs.
