Obesity Pharmacotherapy in Patients With Type 2 Diabetes

Abstract

<b>IN BRIEF</b> Patients with obesity and type 2 diabetes are key targets for weight loss. Given the lack of behavioral weight loss in most patients, obesity pharmacotherapy options should be considered in this patient population. This article reviews key pharmacotherapy options for patients with coexisting obesity and type 2 diabetes. Diabetes medications that are associated with weight gain should be avoided in these patients if possible.
