Nowadays, products customization by consumers tends to be one more variable in the manufacturing process, and smart factories will have to be able to customize what each customers have into consideration, adapting to the preferences. One of the main characteristics of Industry 4.0 is support the integration and virtualization of manufacturing design and production process using the information and internet to create smart products. This paper will present a state of the art review of Industry 4.0 based on recent developments in research and practice within PDP domain. A multi-criteria decision making approach using the Promethee will realize an analysis of the Product Development Process Phases and Industry 4.0 concepts, considering relationship, attributing values, and some other characteristics between them. Subsequently, an overview of different opportunities for product development process in Industry 4.0 will be presented.
