Abstract

Adolescents' responses to their pubertal bodily changes include anxiety, shame, and pride. Adolescents desire greater privacy. Parents' reactions were broadly supportive of their children's pubertal transition, but mothers' communication approaches may sometimes be inappropriate in terms of using fear/scare tactics.
