Pneumocystis PCR: It Is Time to Make PCR the Test of Choice

Abstract

PCR was the most sensitive method for the detection of <i>Pneumocystis</i> and should be considered the diagnostic test of choice. Correlation with clinical and radiologic findings affords discrimination of early true disease from the far rarer instances of colonization.
