Abstract

An innovative and new concept for measurements of wind on a wind turbine has been developed and implemented. The concept has potentials for improved tools for optimization of yaw error, power output and loads. The principles of the concept comprise a unique utilization of the spinner mounted on most wind turbines, and integrate the spinner into a hybrid wind measurement system. The concept includes fixed wind speed measurements on the spinner for determination of wind speed, wind direction and wind inclination angle as seen by the rotor. The concept also utilizes the rotor rotation to establish robustness in measurements.<br/>
