Abstract

These findings suggest that, besides the thyroid gland, pancreatic beta-cells could be a target of autoimmunity during Interferon-treatment for chronic HCV hepatitis. A genetic predisposition may be important, though insufficient alone, in the development of Interferon-induced autoimmune phenomena.
