Abstract

The volume includes contributions presented at an international conference, resuming the newly accumulated evidence on prehistory of the Danube river about 30 – 20 thousands years ago. General papers on Gravettian chronology and dating are followed by regional contributions ordered from the west to the east: south Germany, Austria, Moravia, Poland, Slovakia, and the Balkans. The concluding papers focus on interregional comparisons (Italy), technology and cultural contexts.
