Abstract Normal people and patients with various impairments of the gait were used as subjects. The following were investigated: angles made in the knee and ankle joints in relation to cadence, step length, swing and support times; swing-to-support phase ratio and the angular velocity in the knee joint. This first electrogoniometric study was made in 1961.
