The authors of this book examine the security risks arising from the rapid growth in the amounts of enriched nuclear fuel being stored for use in nuclear power reactors. Using US Atomic Energy Commission projections for the growth of nuclear power in the US, the authors show that, by the year 2000, the annual production of plutonium and enriched uranium will be in the region of hundreds of tonnes per annum.
