Abstract

A silicon-based wideband single-layer reflectarray (RA) antenna is proposed for G-band wireless communications in this letter. A subwavelength multiresonance element with a modified Malta cross and four embedded T-shaped structures is proposed, which provides full 360° phase coverage by varying its size. Based on the approximately linear phase response of the proposed unit cells in a wide frequency band, an offset RA prototype with a 43.2-mm circular aperture is designed, fabricated, and tested. The measured results show that 24.2% 1-dB gain bandwidth (142-182 GHz) is realized. Besides, the measured peak gain at 178 GHz is 33.2 dBi with aperture efficiency of 32.5%. The proposed RA antenna achieves good radiation performance and is suitable for G-band high-gain application.
