Abstract

Une way to try to be clear in philosophy is to formalize, or try to formalize, the basic principles of one's system of philosophy. The mere process of attempting to translate philosophical statements into the language of symbolic logic forces one to think out the details and content of philosophical concepts with an unusual amount of precision. The task of formalizing philosophy seems to require at least three kinds of special ability :
