Electron-Optical Examination of Phosphate and Electropaint Coatings

Abstract

SummaryPhosphate coatings and electrophoretically deposited paint films were investigated by means of electron microprobe analysis and scanning electron microscopy. The main object was to study the effect of different parameters on phosphate formation and the effect different paint conditions have on the underlying phosphate coating. In particular the change of surface structure of the phosphate coating during electrodeposition is discussed.
