We present a comparison between DEVS, Cell-DEVS and a sequential computer simulation of a semi-physical fire spread model. Forest fire is a complex phenomenon, which requires analyzing model evolution and requires high computing capabilities. Hence, we discuss about different environment language implementations (C, Java and C++) for time improvement looking at trade-off between model evolutivity and simulation time provided by the different approaches. Finally, we show how Cell-DEVS allows developing safe and cost-effective simula-tions, reducing significantly the development times for cellular models. 1
